Capital Market & WealthTech Report

DATE: June 2024

In our latest Capital Markets & Wealth Technology report we dive into the distinction of ‘data’ vs ‘workflow’ solutions in this evolving landscape.

In the public markets, the Capital Markets & Wealth Tech peers have traded strongly and steadily since 2023. Following the public markets, private financing & M&A activity has also returned. B2B/Infrastructure players remain the most active tickets, but we do observe some interesting D2C deals in 2024.

We observe a significant ‘data’ valuation premium, of financial/market data providers vs other infrastructure/workflow solutions providers.

We identify – amongst other themes – 4 emerging trends shaping the broader space:

  • Data and Workflow solutions are increasingly merging, with many platforms overlapping

  • Demand for such solutions is also to enable revenue generation, beyond historical regulatory compliance / cost optimisation drivers

  • Platforms increasingly tend to tap both sell & buy sides with broadly the same offering

  • In the new AI era, the clients/investors seem tired of generic promises and expect specific AI initiatives by any company to meaningfully attract their interest

We include in the report an illustrative landscape of 200+ growth platforms in the broader capital markets and wealth tech space. We profiled and interviewed 10+ emerging platforms – representing a diverse range, from D2C wealth to B2B infrastructure solutions.
